Colonel (Ret) Alan Henry Anderson, 85, of Madison, AL passed away on Wednesday January, 25, 2017. Col. Anderson was born in West Rutland, VT to the late Henry Anderson and Helen Anderson. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather with a love of flying, hunting, and skeet-shooting.
Colonel Anderson served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1981, and was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran. He crewed and flew a variety of aircraft culminating his career as a fighter pilot. As an avid private pilot, Col. Anderson served the Tennessee Valley community as an instructor pilot and helped manage the Madison County Executive Airport making many life-long friends. He also won several mid-Atlantic and Southwest championships in skeet-shooting, and was rated AA in all gauges.
Colonel Anderson was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne Anderson, and son Keith Anderson. He is survived by his three sons: Scott Anderson (wife Sharon), Kurt Anderson (wife Cindy), and Brian Anderson; Sister Reva Perry; eight Grandchildren: Joshua, Rebecca, Alyssa, Courtney, Chelsea, Daniel, Cooper, and Alan; one great grandson: Neil; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog Orville W.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ducharme Funeral Home of Castleton. The family will hold a private Graveside service on 24 June in Castleton, VT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Veteran Service Organization.
