Ardin Deyette, 81, of Chittenden passed away February 19, 2014 at his home after a brief illness. He was born at home on October 10, 1932 in East Granville, VT, the son of Walter and Jane (Jondro) Deyette. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1955 as a radar operator and received a National Defense Service Metal during the Korean Conflict. Ardin married the former Deana Hayes in Braintree, VT on October 10, 1957. Over his lifetime he held many jobs including furniture maker, logger, sawmill worker and bridge construction worker. He then used his G.I. loan to further his education in the field of TV and radio repair. He was a TV repairman for Montgomery Wards. He also worked at Rutland Auto and the Rutland Gas Company. He then learned the plumbing trade and worked as a plumber until his retirement. Ardin was a lifelong self- taught musician and entered his first competition playing fiddle at ten years old. He formed his own band in his twenties and then continued with his music, playing with the Les Parker Orchestra for over thirty years. He mastered many instruments all without learning how to read music. He enjoyed getting together and camping at the Champlain Valley Bluegrass Festival with friends and family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a lifetime member of Mendon Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed rabbit hunting with his Beagle, bird hunting with his American Water Spaniel and fishing with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and the day trips he took with three generations of his family. Survivors include his wife Deana, a son Leslie Deyette and his wife Linda of Mount Holly, a daughter Lisa Goodrich and her husband Joe of Middletown Springs, and a daughter Carissa Johnston and her husband Michael of Middletown Springs. He has eight grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, and a great-niece. A celebration of his life will be held on March 8th, 2014 at 11am at the Mendon Fish and Game Club. Burial will be held at a later date in the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center. He was always there to help friends and family and enjoyed doing so. He will be greatly missed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mendon Fish and Game Club at P.O.
