IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Mae
Lussier
November 19, 1934 – December 25, 2025
Barbara Mae (Gates) Lussier, 91, of Hampton New York, was called to rest on Thursday, December 25th, 2025. She was born on November 11th, 1934, to Guy Gates Sr., and Minnie (Fowler) Gates in Benson, Vermont. Barbara and her older siblings, Guy Gates Jr., Alice (Gates) "Sis" Ballard, Charles Gates, and Pauline (Gates) Corey were raised on a farm in Benson known as "Gates Farm." Her cousin Dorothy "Dot", recalls ice skating on the pond behind "the hill," and riding Barbara's horse "Trixie" on the family farm. Dot describes Barbara's early years as being filled with adventure. Barbara attended Benson Elementary School until the 8th grade.
Barbara married Joseph Bernard Phillip Lussier aka "Phil," on December 26th, 1952, prior to moving to Louisiana and having their three children, Wayne Lussier, Kim Lussier and Patti (Lussier) Horvath. Barbara and her family returned to Fair Haven Vermont in 1956. Barbara worked at the Fair Haven Outlet and Poalino's Greenhouse. Barbara and Phil eventually moved to Whitehall/Hampton, NY, where their residence remains. Barbara enjoyed RV camping in Myrtle Beach during the fall, being outside and observing nature, preparing meals and hosting holiday gatherings, telling stories of her youthful years, going for car-rides which always ended with ice-cream, playing "Pennies" with Betty and Denny, long chats and visitors, and watching afternoon soap-operas. Barbara was involved in the upbringing of her grandchildren as well as her great-grandchildren. She is remembered as being strong-willed, sweet and witty, and always able to make someone smile through her stories and jokes. She is loved dearly, and will be missed very much.
She was the loving grandmother to Brett Kent and Ashley (Buxbaum) Wert. Barbara also had nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much. Barbara is survived by her children, Wayne and Kim Lussier. She is predeceased by her parents, siblings, spouse, and daughter, Patti.
At her request, Direct Cremation Services were arranged with Ducharme Funeral Home of Castleton, VT. Friends and family are welcome to share their online condolences at www.ducharmefuneralhome.com. There will be no funeral arrangements, respectfully.
