Obituary

Castleton, Mr. Chester C. Anderson Mr. Chester C. Anderson, 91, a life long resident of Castleton died Friday, November 10, 2006 at his home on East Hubbardton Rd after a long illness. He was born February 21, 1915 the son of the late Fritz & Grace (Ransom) Anderson, on the family farm on East Hubbardton Road, and is also where he died. He attended the Whites and Belgo schools and graduated from Rutland High School in 1933. In 1935 Chester began working with CVPS and Smith Putnam reading the numerous Anemometers along the ridge of Grandpas Knob and north to Griswold Mountain for the wind studies for the Smith-Putnam wind turbine. Grandpas Knob was given the name after Chesters Grandfather. He Married Marjorie Burditt on August 11, 1965 at the Grace Congregational Church in Rutland. Chester lived his whole live on the family farm running the day-to-day operation with his brother Ellis until their retirement in 1985. Chester enjoyed nature to it fullest, he loved to be outside in the woods or on the farm he had a special love for animals and for maple sugaring with his wife Marjorie. He was a member and former deacon of the East Hubbardton Baptist Church, a member of the Rutland County Farmers Bureau and Vermont Farmers Bureau. He is survived by his wife of Castleton, his two nephews Eric Anderson of Bedford, MA and Karl Anderson of Rutland. By his six great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday November 14, 2006 at 1 PM at the East Hubbardton Baptist Church. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions in memory of Chester be made to the East Hubbardton Baptist Church or to the Rutland Area Visiting Nurse and Hospice in care of the Funeral Home at P.O. box 474 Castleton, Vt 05735 Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ducharme Funeral Home. www.ducharmefuneralhome.com
