SHREWSBURY Deanna Ettori, 66, of Upper Cold River Rd., died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her home following a long illness.
Born in Rutland, Vt., December 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Helen (Stewart) Parker.
Deanna was a graduate of Castleton State College with a BA in early childhood education. She taught at Mount Holly for several years and then returned to Castleton State College to receive her degree in accounting, while working and supporting her family. She was employed by Russell Corporation, Excel Plumbing and Three Tomatoes Restaurant as an accountant over the years.
Mrs. Ettori was a member of Christ the King Church in Rutland and taught catechism at St. Anne's previously. She volunteered at the Food Works Program and as a master gardener working with children at Forest Park and Boys and Girls Club. She loved to paint folk art, work in her greenhouse and care for her grandchildren and family. She also partnered with her husband in several family ventures.
Family members include her husband, Robert Ettori of Shrewsbury; one daughter, Michelle Shaw of Ludlow; one son, Michael Martin of Cuttingsville; stepdaughters, Kimberly Ettori of Bowling Green, Ky., and Daynia Dodd and her husband Paul of Syracuse, N.Y.; two brothers, Donald and David Parker of Cuttingsville; grandchildren, Alyssa Shaw, Brooke Shaw and Mallory Dodd; and her best friend and sister-like confidant, Sherry Kernoodle of Cuttingsville.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Ducharme Funeral Home, 1939 Main St., Castleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Church, Rutland, with the Rev. Thomas Mattison, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cuttingsville.
