Castleton Derek E. Doran Derek E. Doran 20 passed away unexpectedly March 23, 2014 while traveling in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Born June 21, 1993 in Middlebury the son of Thomas and Karen (Hagadorn) Doran. He was a graduate of Fair Haven Union High School Class of 2012 and was enrolled at the University of Vermont; he was on the Deans list for all three semesters he attended. Derek enjoyed kayaking, walking with his dog and a good card game. During the summers he worked with his dad in the family roofing and masonry business. He also worked at the Fair Haven McDonalds. Derek "Dee" had a contagious smile that would light up the room. He was a beautiful and genuine young man with a positive energy. Derek always found the good in people and was generous with his compliments. "The Entertainer" snapping his fingers to the tune, loved music and dancing. He was an absolute joy to be around and made friends very quickly. Derek will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to meet him. He is survived by his parents Thomas and Karen Doran of Castleton, his sister and best friend Andrea Doran of Castleton, by his grandmother "Oma" Irene Hagadorn of Fair Haven, by his aunts "Tante" Norma Morse and her husband Steven of Hampton, NY, Coreen Herrick and her husband James, of Concord, NH, Susan Doran of Florida, Lori Hesch and her husband Kurt, of Groton, CT, Mary Vargas and her husband Tony of Monroe, CT Joan Csizmesia and her husband Kerry of Groton, CT. By his uncles, Andre Hagadorn and his partner Brenda Mahar of Whitehall, NY, James Doran and his wife Suzanne, of Hydeville, Edward J. Doran Jr. and his wife Kim, of Hydeville, William Doran and his partner Joanne Higgins of Hydeville, Joseph Doran and his wife Linda, of Hydeville, Timothy Doran and his wife Bonnie of West Castleton, Michael Doran and his wife Tammy, of Benson. Also By his great aunts and great uncles and numerous cousins. Derek is also survived by many wonderful friends whom he adored. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Allan Hagadorn and his paternal grandparents Edward J. Doran Sr. and Nancy Doran. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 2 P.M. at the Ducharme Funeral Home Inc. 1939 Main Street, Castleton. Family and friends may call from noon until the time of the service at 2 P.M. The Rev. Holly Noble will officiate. All are welcome to come and share memories of Derek in celebration of his life. Following the ceremony a gathering will be held at the Castleton Legion. Burial will be at a later date in Cedar Grove Cemetery Fair Haven.
