Obituary

Donald C. Fuss of Brandon, Vt passed away peacefully surrounded by family, after a long battle with Parkinson Disease. He was born on December 17th, 1937 in Glens Falls NY the son of the late parents Fritz "Fred" and Lillian Fuss. He Graduated from Glens Falls High School before entering the US Army. Don served our country for over 30 years starting in 1958 to 1997 in the US Army between active duty and reserves. Retiring as a Sergeant First Class. During his active duty he was stationed in Germany on the West and East German Wall from 1958 to 1961. Then stationed in state side bases from Fort Dix NJ, Fort Meade MD, Fort Leonard Wood MO and Fort Devens MA. He has been an advocate for Veterans causes after retiring until his passing. Don also had a 38 year career at Finch Pruyn Paper Company in Glens Falls, NY. He is survived by his daughter Lorie Fuss of Brandon, Vt. and his son Shawn Fuss of Ballston Lake, NY., and three grandchildren Stephen, Amelia and Elliott. Also, sister Margaret and Jack Lohret of Rexford, NY., Carol Ann and Irving Esner of Orlando, Fl., and brother Roger and Kathy Fuss of Knoxville TN., and many very special nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his sisters Shirley Collins, Lois Wildey, and brothers William Fuss, Fredrick Fuss, Edward Fuss, and, Richard Fuss. Don had a lifelong love of horses, something he shared with his Grand Daughter Amelia and supported her love of horses. Don and his brother Edward both worked with legendary Harold Story to train and race standardbred horses. They both were even mentioned in Harold Storys biography. Working together they both owned, trained, and raced a few horses before retiring in the early 1980s. He also loved spending time with Lories Bulldogs Otie and Daisy. Don was a big sports fan of Alabama Football and especially Paul "Bear: Bryant, Yankees, Celtics, and the 49ers. He never let a chance slip by to ask his family and friends trivia and history questions on just about anything. Don did not want to have a viewing or wake and would like everyone to remember him during the times he spent with you. He will be buried at the Gerald B. Solomon National Cemetery on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 11:15AM, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY. He asked that you continue to support and donate to Veteran organizations such as Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
