Obituary

Rutland - Donald R. Hunt passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on May 3, after a long illness with Primary Progressive Aphasia.

Born in Schenectady NY to Jeanette and Roy Hunt in 1951, he settled in Rutland VT after moving about the country. Graduated from Brown University, he had a long career in Human Resources and executive recruitment culminating in over 15 years at Wakefield Talabisco. Following retirement, he enjoyed his volunteer driving for Bridges and Beyond and One to One.

Don's journey was marked by a profound love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna, his son, Topher, siblings Bill, Deborah, twin brother David and multiple caring nieces and nephews. Many songs, laughs and meals were enjoyed with family at Lake George.

Don had a lifelong love of sports both as a participant and observer. He was a fierce competitor at skiing, tennis, aerobie, soccer, pool, and ping-pong, and would relax watching them on TV especially the Atlanta Braves and golf.

He grew up surrounded by music with a strong family culture of singing in multipart harmony. He sang in the Grace Congregational Choir for many years. He had a particular love for Darlingside of which his nephew David was a member.

Don had a quick wit and love of word play and NY Times Crossword puzzles. He was a force to be contended with on the Scrabble board having played thousands of games. As his dementia progressed, Words with Friends allowed him to continue to play with people worldwide.

Services to celebrate his life will be held on May 17th at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, at 1:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bridges and Beyond or Grace Congregational Church music program.
