Doreen Patricia Sweeney-Dodge passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center after a lengthy battle with Cancer. Born January 9, 1959 in Castleton she was the daughter of Clarence and Dora (Taggart) Sweeney. Doreen spent her summers on Lake Bomoseen with her family and as she grew older brought her family there. She enjoyed fishing, swimming, water skiing, boating and being with her entire family. Doreen was a second-grade teacher at Orwell Village School and had quite a few activities out of school that kept her busy most of the time. She was an avid golfer who played almost every day in the summer. On the days she wasn't golfing, she was playing softball for the Two Sheas in their Rutland league. After thirty-six years of teaching she had to unfortunately leave her dream job and focus on her health. Surviving are her husband Clinton Dodge; children Christopher, Molly and Jesse; daughter-in-law Amber Pelerin; grandchild Arianna Pelerin; father Clarence Sweeney; aunt Florence Taggart; brothers Richard, Gary (Loraine) Ron (Becky) and Dan (Andrea); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 4-8 at Ducharme Funeral Home, 1939 Main St., in Castleton on Monday, May 15, 2017. A service will be held May 16, 2017 at 4PM at Ducharme Funeral Home.
