Harold Harry L. Stanyon 76, died July 15, 2014 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Born September 17, 1937 in Gloversville, NY the son of the late Harold F. and Geraldine (Kuhn) Stanyon. He was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy class of 1955, he also attended Darrow School, Boston University and UVM. He married Nancy (Noyes) Watts on the Farm in Castleton July 29, 1984. Harry was a member of the Poultney Rotary Club where he had served as President and Treasurer and New York Thoroughbred Breeders Association. Harry was active with the Poultney Downtown revitalization and redevelopment. He loved family, people, animals, horse racing and breeding horses. Together with his wife Nancy they loved to go to Saratoga and watch their horses. Survivors are his wife Nancy of Castleton, sons, Cortland Stanyon and his spouse Robert Daniell of Woodstock, Timothy Stanyon of St. Johnsbury and Jeff Stanyon and spouse Joann of Woodstock. By his two grandchildren Timothy Stanyon and Robert Flower, also by his cousin Dr. Don Wilsey of Gloversville, NY. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday July 30, 2014 from 5-7 P.M. at the Fair Haven Inn, 5 Adams Street Fair Haven. Private burial was held in Hillside Cemetery, Castleton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society at 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763 or to the Special Olympics Vermont at 16 Gregory Drive, Suite 2, South Burlington, VT 05403.
