Helen J. Start 60, died early Tuesday morning October 15, 2019 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 3, 1958 in Berlin, Vt the daughter of Leroy and Elizabeth (Roach) Knight. Helen was employed as a revenue officer with the I.R.S. for thirty years retiring in 2016. She was a member of Gilman Chapter # 88 Oder of Eastern Star in West Rutland, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family and going to camp during the summer. She is survived by her husband Dennis Start, of Shrewsbury, by her step children, Gloria Thomas (Paul) of Walpole, NH, Patrick Start (Fawna) of Johnson, Vt and Shawn Start of East Orange, VT by her sister Christine Lackey of Montpelier. Also by her step grandchildren, Christina, Selina, Holly, Taylor and Natalie, by her step great-grandchildren Matthew, Jocelyn, Bladen, Jaxson and Caleb. She was predeceased by her parents. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday October 26, 2019 at 11 A.M. at the Ducharme Funeral Home Inc. located at 1939 Main Street, Castleton, Vt, where the O.E.S. will provide fraternal services. A reception will follow at the Masonic /O.E.S. Temple at 63 Franklin Street, West Rutland, VT.
