Obituary

John Dickson Ferguson (Dick)
February 28, 1954-June 27, 2023
He was the husband of Hadley Jones Ferguson for over 48 years, and the father of four children: Katherine Dyck (Scott), Kyle Ferguson, Schuyler Ferguson (Mickey) and Jack Ferguson. He was Grandad to Natalie and Gabriel Dyck; Bhima, Buddha, Wolf and Winter Ferguson.
He graduated from Hampshire College, Virginia Theological Seminary and University of Southern California Law Center, and worked in Philadelphia for many year as a lawyer before becoming the business manager at the Family Hope Center.
He sang in the Philadelphia Boys Choir Chorale for a number of years, while his son, Jack, was in the Choir. Together, they traveled with the Choir to Cuba, China and South Korea.
Before his illness, he served on the Board of the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in Rutland.
He was an avid vegetable gardener, building his own raised beds.
He and Hadley moved to Hubbardton almost four years ago. Dick fell in love with their land. They acquired the Sargent Hill property in 2021 and as one of the last acts of his life, together with Hadley, they donated the 200 acres to the Northeast Wilderness Trust.
Arrangements under the direction of Ducharme Funeral Home, Castleton.
