Castleton- Junior P. Alt, 81, of Route 30 South, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Born in Smoke Hole, West Virginia Noverber 14, 1925, he was the son of the late George E. and Ethel J. (Self) Alt. A resident of Castleton for the past 59 years, he retired in 1988 from Vermont Structural, Inc., formerly Carpenter's Inc. In addition he operated a garage business from his home for several years. He enjoyed stock car racing. Family members include his wife, Barbara A. (Brown) Alt of Castleton; two sons, George E. Alt and his wife Sarah of Hydeville and Stanley W. Alt of Rutland; one daughter, Ramona G. Gardner and her husband Edwin of Rutland; twelve grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Vernon Alt. There will be no calling hours. Private burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Castleton. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Ducharme Funeral Home, 1939 Main St. Castleton.
