RUTLAND Leota (Paige) Jacobs Sumner, 90, passed away Peacefully April 14, 2021 at Rutland Hospital. Leota was born March 7, 1931, in Barre, VT to Leo & Evie (Button) Paige. Leota graduated from Essex High School. She retired from Grand Union Supermarkets after more than forty years. She was a charter member of the Jeffersonville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and State Chapter, Burlington Chapter 793. In her early years she was a member of Essex Ctr. Grange # 155 Pomona and State Grange. Leota was preceded in death by her parents Leo & Evie (Button) Paige. Her 1st Husband Richard Jacobs, Brother Ronald Paige & Sister in law Janet Paige, Niece Nichole (Bitcon) Thomas, Brother in law Stanley Jacobs, oldest son Dickie Jacobs. 2nd Husband Charles Sumner. Survivors are her children Ronald Jacobs (Carol Brown) Denver, CO, Jeanne King (Dwayne) Madison, ME, Evie Kenyon (Rodney) Rutland, VT, Cindi (Sumner) Arsenault (Joe) Colchester, VT. Sisters Beverly Lewis Stem, NC, Madine Bitcon (Doug) Woodland Park, CO, Sister in Law Marilyn Jacobs St. Albans, VT. 24 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. The family would like to thank the social worker and staff from Rutland Health Care and Rehab, Rutland Regional Medical Center 2nd & 5th floor. That made it possible for Leota to get to Rutland for her last days she was at peace. Due to current travel restrictions, Grave side service for family and friends will take place June 25, 2022 at St. Thomas Cemetery in Underhill Ctr., VT. Followed by a Celebration of Life at Jeffersonville Eagles Club Jeffersonville, VT.
