Castleton, VT – Lillian Jean Pitts

Lillian Jean Pitts 72, died at her residence after a fierce battle with cancer.

She was born August 15, 1953 at the old Rutland hospital, the daughter and only child of Oscar Roy Pitts and Nancy Jean (Rivers) Pitts. She grew up on the Mills Farm in Florence and later moved with her family to North Clarendon. She and her dad made one final move to Castleton. She made many dear and wonderful friends in her years with the Red Hatters and volunteering at the Castleton Senior Center.

Lillian was a 1971 graduate of Otter Valley Union High School.

She was previously employed as a Rutland County Sherrif, EMT, nurse’s aid, Panera’s, and Moore Business Forms. Recently she had been a personal caretaker.

She had a great love of all animals, especially her pets. She also enjoyed Sudoko puzzles.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Per her wishes there will be no public services, but will always be remembered for her faith, humility, and humor by all who knew and loved her.

Burial will be at the Clarendon Spafford Cemetery at a later date next to her mom, dad, and three generations of her grandparents.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ducharme Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to the Rutland Humane Society.
