Marilyn W. Cole, 90, fondly known to all as "Gramma", passed peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Rutland Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 24, 1929 in Castleton, daughter of the late Arthur B. and Florence (Lansing) Ward.
Gramma worked at Center School in Willington for 18 years as a school cook and continued her career at UCONN dining services.
She grew up in Castleton and enjoyed every minute she was able to spend at her house there. She also enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, cooking, knitting and sewing. Gramma loved baking pies. She was good at putting out fires whether personal or real. Gramma was the glue that held her family and friends together.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda West and husband Walter of Willington, CT and Janet Cole also of Willington. By her granddaughters, Miranda Kenderdine and husband Mike and Courtney West, by her great-granddaughter Kathryn Kenderdine and also by her extended family, Robert Lombardo, Kelly Trueb, the Connecticut State Police and the Willington Fire Departments.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Vernon Cole, and her siblings, Raymond Ward, Wilma Preston and Thelma Green.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 6, 2019 at 6pm at Wilderness Lake Campground, 150 Village Hill Rd., Willington, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Willington Fire Dept. #1, 426 River Rd, Willington, CT 06279 or to First Responders, 273 Route 30 N., Castleton, VT 05735.
