WHITEHALL, NY- Mary Agnes Mulhern, 72, died Sunday, January 22, 2012 in a single car motor vehicle accident in Wells, VT.
Born in New York, NY, January 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Rita (Boylan) Mulhern.
From 1959-1962, she attended Long Island College School of Nursing. Following graduation she served on the Catholic Medical Mission Board in Africa for two years. From 1967-1969 she attended nurse anesthetist schooling in Flint, MI. She was employed by Nassau Hospital, Long Island and Flushing Hospital, Long Island for several years and later moved to Vermont in 1969 and worked at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Brattleboro, VT. She moved to Whitehall, NY.
Mary enjoyed life. She especially enjoyed concerts and lectures. She was generous to many.
Surviving family members include two sisters, Eileen Lawrence and her husband Joseph of Brattleboro and their children Joseph Lawrence, Jr. of Brattleboro, Robert and his wife Michelle Lawrence of South Hero, Kathleen Fortier and her husband Rick of Brattleboro, and Elizabeth Lawrence of Brooklyn, NY and her sister Kathleen Mulhern and her children, Robert and his wife Marla Brewer and Brian Brewer, all of Iowa.
She married her husband Peter Buonocore in 1968. He predeceased her in 1987.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass Thursday, January 26 at 1 PM at Our Lady of Hope, Whitehall with the Rev. Michael Flannery, pastor, as celebrant.
Another memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Brattleboro at 10 AM Friday, January 27, 2012 with the Very Rev. Richard ODonnell, VF, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery, Brattleboro.
