Castleton,VT Michael J Daley Michael J Daley, 74, died Saturday February 18, 2006 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Mike was born March 21, 1931 in Tupper Lake, NY the son of the late Michael J & Elizabeth (Trudeau) Daley Thompson. Mike was a graduate of M.A.I. High School class of 1949; he attended Albany College Of Pharmacy and then Fordham Univ. At age 13 Mike began work in his fathers pharmacy and had continued on for forty-five years in that career. Mike joined the United States Navy in 1951 and had served in Korea from 1951-1955. He was a reservist for many years doing his final tour on the Maiden Voyage of the USS Mercy in 1987, retiring with twenty-eight years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 50, VFW, Lions Club and the B.P.O.E Mike is survived by his wife, Carol (Stow) Daley whom he married February 21, 1954, his children, Bruce & Cheryl Daley, of Altona, NY, John Daley, of Bomoseen, Maureen & Joseph Orzell, of Castleton, Mary Daley & Karl Frasier, of Bomoseen, David Daley, of Bomoseen, Anne & Chris Briere, of West Haven, Barbara & Greg Knapp, of Granville, NY and also by a daughter in-law, Marilyn Daley, his brother William and his wife Jane Daley, of Orlando, FL, his thirteen grandchildren, his three great-grandchildren, his brother in-law Mark Stow & his wife Jean, his sister in-law Alice Tighe, his cousin Genevieve Ethier, of Campbellton, New Brunswick, Canada, and also by several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Michael will be held on Wednesday February 22, 2006 at 11 AM at the Ducharme Funeral Home in Castleton, followed by a reception for friends and family at the American Legion in Bomoseen. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions in memory of Mike be made to the Rutland Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice at 7 Albert Cree Drive P.O. Box 787 Rutland, VT 05702 or to the Oncology Department at Rutland Regional Medical Center @ 160 Allen Street Rutland, VT 05701.
