Hubbardton Nathan W. Booth Jr.
Nathan W. Booth Jr., 84, died early Monday morning June 12, 2023 at Mountain View Center in Rutland after a brief illness.
He was born June 13, 1938 in Waterbury, CT, the son of Nathan W. Booth Sr. and Evelyn (Higgins) Booth.
Nate was raised on a farm and attended local schools in Waterbury, CT.
He was a Unites States Army Veteran having served in Korea after the Korean conflict.
Nate moved to Vermont in 1974. Prior to coming to Vermont, he worked as an auto mechanic at Sevelle Ford in CT, and then Rutland Ford. He also had worked for Joe Giancola Construction before he opened his own auto mechanic garage in Hubbardton called Nates Garage. He continued farming and tried his hand at raising replacement heifers and a few beef cattle.
He enjoyed riding his tractor and his lawn mower, and riding around in his truck, and he loved hunting.
Nate was a member of the Hubbardton Fire Department, the Hubbardton Select Board, and the United Reformed Church of New Haven.
He is survived by his wife, Truda (Boyce) Booth of Hubbardton; by his son, Richard Booth; by his step children, Marci Barrows, Mike Wetmore and Brad Wetmore. Also by his three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Sky.
He was predeceased by his parents; by a son, Nathan W. Booth III; by his brother, Edward Booth; and sisters, Ruth Viseant and Fay Norton.
A Memorial Service will be held at the New Haven Reformed Church in New Haven, VT on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
