Nazarius Thomas Valente, 88, died Tuesday morning February 3, 2009 at the Pines in Rutland after a brief illness.
Born February 4, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Josephine (Moncada) Valente.
He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WW II, having received the Victory Medal and the American Theater Ribbon.
He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Valente of North Dakota, by his sons, Nazarius T. Sonny Valente Jr. of Florida, Paul Valente of Pittsford, Wayne Valente of Rutland, Carl Cram of Hampton, NY, Thomas Cram of Brandon, Albert Cram of Belchertown, MA, Stanley Cram of Castleton, Benjamin Cram of Castleton, by his brother, Francis Valente of Brooklyn, NY, by his sisters, Josephine Dooley of West Palm Beach, FL, Anita Calaci of Deer Park, NY Anne Toomey of Deer Park, NY.; eighteen grandchildren and his twenty-five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann Kapitan Valente, by his second wife, Edith Humphrey Valente, by his sister, Mary Cimmino and by his brothers, Louis and Thomas Valente also by his longtime friend and companion Dorothy Vladyka.
Funeral services will be held on Friday February 6, 2009 at 11 AM at the Ducharme Funeral Home, 1939 Main St., Castleton. The Rev Robert Whalen will officiate.
Visiting hours will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday, February 6, 2009. Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Castleton.
A reception will be held after the service at the home of Carl and Whendy Cram on Hickey Rd in Hampton, NY.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ducharme Funeral Home in Castleton.
