Rebecca A. "Bec" DeLance, 42, died July 9, 2023 at Rutland Regional Hospital in Rutland, after a long illness. She was born October 3, 1980 in Rutland, the daughter of Michael and Donna DeLance. She graduated from Rutland High School in 1998 and attended a year at The College of St Joseph.
Bec was engaged to Joshua Josselyn and had two cats, Spitfire and Caravaggio, who were treated as Becs children. Throughout her adult life Bec had worked a variety of jobs. This included a period of time at the Rutland Humane Society where she was able to show her love for animals.
She was incredibly generous with everything she had, from money, to a place to camp out. If you needed it and she had it, you could count on her sharing it with you. She was known to be silly and had the best giggle in the world. Her laugh was infectious. To know her was to love her. If you were called a friend it was forever. Several in Becs inner circle have known each other from the 1st day of kindergarten and attended the same school all the way through high school. She even gave each of them a special nickname. Anyone else was referred to as "My Dear" in her soft, polite, caring voice.
As a teenager, Bec and her "Ladies" as she called them, spent the summers in nature hiking in the woods and swimming at the gorge, even did some skinny dipping at the Chittenden Dam. She loved to ghost hunt and to check out the local mysteries along with exploring the back roads of Vermont. She even tried to skateboard once or twice.
She was very sentimental about her possessions that had meaning for her; even owned an old trunk that she referred to as "The Trunk of Junk." It traveled all the way to California and back again. She still has it with her prize possessions to be handed down to her "Ladies." I am positive that when it is opened we will find all of the ticket stubs to all of the concerts she attended. She loved music, and even danced a time or two on the sofa to rap music.
Rebecca is survived by a half-brother, Zachary DeLance of Castleton. She was predeceased by her father, Michael DeLance in 2013.
Rebecca will be cremated. A graveside service will be August 19th at the Horton Cemetery in Chittenden Vermont at 10:00AM with a Celebration of Life to follow immediately. Place yet to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society.
Arrangements under the direction of Ducharme Funeral Home, Castleton, Vermont.
