Richard F. Rogers 83, died early Wednesday morning March 17, 2021 at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born June 21, 1937 in Fair Haven the son of Clarence E. Rogers Sr. and Louise (Mills) Rogers. Richard attended local schools in Wallingford and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 20 years. After leaving the Navy Richard began his truck driving and bus driving career in Somerville, MA. After retiring he moved back to his home state of Vermont where he met and married Nellie Aubin. He was a member of the Castleton American Legion Post # 50. Richard enjoyed playing cards and cribbage and loved animals especially his dogs and cats. Survivors are his wife Nellie Rogers, of Poultney, his two sons, Rick Rogers, of New Hampshire and Chris Rogers, of New York; by his step daughter Linda, by his sister Ruth Whipple, of Fair Haven and his 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his wifes, June and Peg, and by siblings, Shirley, Rita, Bob, Skip and David. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday May 22 at 1 P.M., at the Castleton American Legion Post # 50. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ducharme Funeral Home Inc.
