Robert J. Navin 83, died early Friday morning October 5, 2018 at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born November 1, 1934 in Rutland the son of Charles and Mary (Barron) Navin. He was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph (MSJ).
Robert Married Ruth Todriff-LaPlant February 6, 1955 in Rutland.
Bob was employed as plant manager at Sealed Air Corporation in Totowa, NJ from 1978 to 1988 in which he returned to Vermont and worked as the Commissioner of Public Works for Rutland City from 1989 until his retirement in 1995.
Robert was a self taught engineer, enjoyed ham radio, firearms, cooking and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was intelligent self educated man who in his free time studied everything from history to electronics. He was very political and enjoyed a good debate.
Bob inspired his family and will be greatly missed by, William E. Navin, Robert C. Navin and wife Darleen, James P. Navin, John T. Navin, Charles F. Navin, Patrick J. Navin and Kathleen M. Stiles, by his siblings, Richard C. Navin and Thomas J. Navin , by his 17 grandchildren, the eldest Jessie Mongeon, by his 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, by his wife Ruth A. Navin who died March 16, 2015, by his daughter Donna Lee Beaudoin and his brother Francis.
A Celebration of Roberts life will be held on Saturday October 13, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the Ducharme Funeral Home Inc., located at 1939 Main street, Castleton. the family will receive family and friends from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ducharme Funeral Home Inc.
