Ruth Russell Seward died on May 2nd, 2017 following an almost 4 year battle with AML, Acute myeloid leukemia. Born June 2, 1946 to Lloyd and Pauline (Lamb) Russell, Ruth was educated in Rutland Public Schools, graduating from Rutland High School in 1964. She attended UVM graduating with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Ruth was a dental hygienist in Hanover, NH, but after one year returned to Rutland to marry her best friend, Ernest on September 16, 1967. They were married for 49 years. After working 4 years at the dental office of Dr. Edward C. Woods, Ruth retired to be a stay at home mother. Ruth was always very supportive of her children, Eric and Andreas, activities and ready to lend a hand whether it be school related or sports activities. Ruth returned to work at the dental office of Dr. Earl A. Olson. She worked there more than 20 years, retiring in 2008. Upon retirement Ruth and Ernie traveled often especially enjoying their trips to Hawaii, Alaska, England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales as well as several trips to the western United States. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and especially spending time with her grandkids. She loved her family dearly. Ruth is survived by: husband Ernest, son Eric (Rutland), wife Charlene and their children, Morgan, Zachary, and Emma; daughter Andrea (Seward) Bachini (Shrewsbury, MA), husband Richard and their children Jackson and Samuel. Ruth is also survived by her sister Joann Turnbell of Rutland, VT. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 8th at Trinity Church in Rutland at 11:00 A.M. There are no calling hours.
