Obituary

Hubbardton, VT Stanley V.M. Reed Stanley Victor Mark Reed, 90, passed away Thursday January 22, 2009, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born November 20, 1918 in Clevedon, England the son of the late Mark & Florence (Simms) Reed. Mr. Reed served in World War II With the British Royal Engineers from 1939 thru 1946, seeing action at Dunkirk, Sicily, Normandy, and Arnahm. He was a member of Lee Lodge # 30 F & A.M., of Castleton and a former member of the American Legion. Stanley, was known as Joe to family and close friends, and very well known for his wildlife wood carvings. Stanley was the head of Maintenance at Castleton State College from 1966 to 1983. He is survived by his wife Jocelyn Reed, his son Clive Reed, of Hubbardton, his daughter Wendy Bye, of Roanoke, VA, by his four grandchildren, Ian Reed, Michael Bye, Erin Bye and Reed Bye, by his five great-grandchildren. Also by his nieces, Pam Rampone, of Castleton and Carolyn Colandro, of Southampton, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, and his granddaughter Verrity Bye. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Monday January 26, 2009 at 11 AM at the Ducharme Funeral Home located at 1939 Main Street Castleton. The Rev. Gordon Naser will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Vermont Division at 121 Connor Way Ste 240, Williston, VT 05495.
