Obituary

Veralyn Fryzell of Sudbury, VT, formerly of Castleton, VT, died Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester. She was born May 3, 1939 in Rutland, VT, the daughter of Elihu and Ethel (McCarthy) Ransom. She attended schools in Castleton and Fair Haven, and was a 1957 delegate to Green Mountain Girls' State.

After graduation from Fair Haven High School, she attended Albany Business College. She married Louis Fryzell in 1959. Veralyn held positions at the Marble Bank and the J.C. Durick Insurance Agency. She was also a prolific crafter , with a particular talent for handwoven baskets and teddy bears.

She is survived by her husband, Louis, and her two children, Elihu "Hugh" Fryzell of Sudbury and Heidi Fryzell of Richmond. She was predeceased by her six brothers: David Ransom, Charles Ransom, Robert Ransom, Joseph Ransom, Kenneth "Mike" Ransom, and Elihu C. "Jake" Ransom.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ducharme Funeral Home of Castleton. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to the Brandon Rescue Squad or Whiting Volunteer Fire Department.
