Clarendon, VT Mr. William Henry Winne William Henry Winne, 80, died early Wednesday morning November 17, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born October 24, 1930 in Stamford, CT the son of Harold & Mildred (Price) Winne. He was a graduate of Stamford (CT) High School where he was a member of the soccer team and the acapella choir. He was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church, where as a child he was a member of the choir as a boy soprano. William was a graduate of the American Institute of Banking at Williams College and spent 42 years with Union Trust in Connecticut. He was also a United Way volunteer. He married Barbara Kennett in 1952, and they made their home in Norwalk, CT. He was a parishioner of Grace Episcopal Church, serving for many years as a choir member and parish treasurer. They retired to their home in Barnard, VT in 1990 and travelled the United States in their RV. In Vermont, William was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bethel and volunteered at the local food shelf. William was a devoted husband and father, and a passionate sports fan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, by his children, Beth Crosby & her husband Doug, of Redding, CT; Beverly BJ Mapes & her husband William, of Clarendon; Robert E. Winne & his wife Denise, of Ridgefield, CT; his daughter-in-law, Dinah Potter, of Bethel, CT; and by thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several cousins, and an adopted daughter, Cheryl Weaver, of Dover, DE. He was predeceased by his parents, by an infant daughter, Karen, and by his son, William Harold Winne. There will be no visitation hours per his request and a memorial service will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.
