William Harold Winne, 57, died suddenly at his beloved Silver Lake State Park in Barnard, Vermont, Thursday, July 29, 2010 while on vacation with his family. He was born May 2, 1953 in Norwalk, CT, the son of William Henry & Barbara (Kennett) Winne. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1971, and received an Associates Degree from Norwalk Community College. He was a merchandise manager for Rings End Lumber in Lewisboro, NY. Bill was a NASCAR, golf and camping enthusiast, was an accomplished wood worker, but his real passion was for his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his parents, of Clarendon, VT; by his sons Keith Winne and his wife Deanna, of Harrisburg, North Carolina; Kevin Winne and his wife Lisa of Wells River, Vermont; a daughter, Karen Duguay and her husband Steve, of Manchester, New Hampshire; and a daughter, Kristen Winne of Norwalk, Connecticut. He is also survived by his companion, Dinah Potter, of Bethel, Connecticut. Also surviving Bill are his sister Beth Crosby, and her husband Doug, of Redding, Connecticut; a sister, B.J. Mapes and her husband Bill, of Clarendon, VT; and a brother, Bob and his wife Denise, of Ridgefield, Connecticut. Bill is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bradley, Lauren, Kaitlyn, Logan, Annabelle, John, David and was looking forward to the birth of Brandon in the coming weeks. Bill was the loving uncle to nine nieces and nephews: Ryan, Kyle, Bryan, Nicholas, Matthew, Alex, Molly, Adam and Brendan. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Karen. Per Bills wishes, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service is planned for 11:00 am, Friday, August 6, 2010 at Christ Episcopal Church in Redding, CT. A small reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimers Association, 607 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851, or Barnard First Response, P.O. Box 146, Barnard, VT 05031. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ducharme Funeral Home, Castleton, Vermont.
